Agricultural Science: A Land of Delight Natural Farm Review

"A Land of Delight Natural Farm is a family-owned farm that is dedicated to locally grown, organic, all natural, non-GMO, self-sustainably grown fresh foods. We use organic heirloom seeds and grow organic herbs, vegetables, and fruits that are all-natural and locally grown. We also offer farm tours & training. Our Greenhouses are operated on Solar Energy. We start many of our seeds in our Aquaponic Systems and then transplant into our Back-to-Eden all-natural organic soil beds. We have over 250 Pasture Raised Chickens that are supplemented with Non-GMO feed and they produce beautiful Golden Yoke Brown Eggs. Fresh from our family farm to your family table. We Serve the Community Every Saturday from 8 AM-5PM."

Review:

The farm is small and managed by the family who live onsite. It is a great example of diversified farming as they have several types of animals, gardens, orchard, and pasture. They also process foods onsite to sell at their farm stand. Along with training's and seminars, they manage to keep the farm going. While I got less out of the seminar than just walking around and seeing how they managed the farm and the animal pens, it was still a good trip and worth it to examine a working farm. We did have some excitement when the rabbits managed to crawl under their portable cage and escape. I learned that I'm really bad at catching them on the run! In the rabbit warren nursery room they used suspended metal cages over a deep bedding technique for manure management and then spread the compost on the gardens which was a great idea. They also do hydro and aquaponics with Talapia tanks and goldfish/minnows in high towers. Those pictures are really useful in designing your own tank system.
